The bread runner
“Have you any firearms, drugs, pornography, or Bibles?”
Since the Cold War began, the transportation of religious materials has been seen as an illegal act of propaganda distribution within the Soviet Union’s East Bloc. But when Stephan sees smuggling Bibles across the East German border as part of God’s mission for him, he can’t resist feeling compelled to fulfill his purpose as a faithful Christian. Meanwhile, his fellow seminary colleagues, Thomas and Michael, are in it for a completely different reason: for the sense of adventure. Will their journey make them go too far into danger, or bring a sense of enlightenment and completion to their being? Meanwhile readers can follow alongside their mission and those savvy enough to pick up on Biblical allusions may see what is in store for the trio of friends.
”The Bread Runner” takes place in Hamburg, West Germany during the summer of 1984 and is based on true events and a hidden history of those who smuggled religious materials into the East Bloc in an attempt to promote religious freedom.
